Art Howard
Art Howard was born in Cheyenne, WY, on 4-7-1944. He was raised in Fort Collins, CO, where he graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1962 followed by 2 years of college. In 1965, Art went to Gillette, WY, to work with his uncle.
While in Gillette, he worked for Dowell and Lumont Drilling. While working for Lumont Drilling, he lost two fingers. Afterwards, Art trained to be a machinist at L&H Machine. He moved to Casper, WY, in 1972 to work for WOTCO as a machinist, then went to work for NL Acme in 1975. Also in 1975, Art started Howard’s Inspection Service.
Art joined the Wildcatters Board of Directors as treasurer in 1991. While serving as Chairman of the Wildcatters in 1995, Art asked Ace Parker and Percy Anderson if they would be interested in starting a Senior Wildcatter’s group. They were more than willing to help.
The first year there were 6 players. Through the years, participation has steadily grown, reaching the maximum number of 144 players since 2019. With the help of great sponsors, players from local, out of town, and out of state, along with the support of past and present Board members, the tournament has become a great success.
